Pashmina care

Caring for your pashmina scarf takes a little time but this time is well spent allowing your classic scarf to age gracefully and become a family heirloom.

Wrinkle removal is best achived by either a steam-press or just lightly ironing under a pressing cloth on low heat.

Cleaning of silk Pashminas should be by dry-cleaning. The silk is susceptible to wrinkling so handle your slik pashmina with care to help keep them wrinkle free.

Store your pashmina in a dry, cool place away from the glare of the sun.

If you have to wash your Pashmina cold water is best with a wool mix. To dry, roll in a towel to remove the excess water, then lay out on a flat surface and stretch lightly to original shape.

Twisting or wringing is not allowed as this will stretch your pashmina.

Use of a soft brush is optional to give your pashmina a softer, plusher texture.

Storage requires a dry, sun free, moth free environment. Fold or pack neatly in tissue paper or a bag.

Only store a clean pashmina - dirt encourages months and as pasminas are natural fabrics they need mothballs, or naphthalene balls, and cedar chips to protect your wool.

During damp weather make sure that moisture does not accumulate in your storage area. A well-sealed dry plastic box is best.

Like a good pair of shoes allow your pashmina a rest for two or three day’s after one day’s wearing. Avoid rough clothing like clothing with faulty zippers, or fancy brooches as these will snag and pull the fabric. This also applies to metal necklaces, belts, rough leather such as crocodile skin.

You pashmina will look after you if you look after it.
